FORENSIC ENGINEER (NSW)

FMG Engineering is seeking a Forensic Engineer to join our growing business in NSW.

With the office based in Mascot, and with the opportunity to also work partially from home, this role would suit people living in Sydney or further south towards Wollongong.

Suitable candidates would include Structural Engineers who are seeking a new challenge or change of direction, or who already have experience in the field of forensic/building/structural assessment.

You will join a national team of around 20 established and highly regarded Forensic Engineers in an environment which values teamwork, learning and mutual respect.

You will be required to inspect residential, commercial and industrial buildings depending on requirements. Our service typically involves insurance or legal matters or the provision of advice to property/asset owners.

Based on your assessment and findings you will produce technical/expert reports, providing cause of damage, extent of damage and recommendations for repair.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural)
  • Strong written (report writing) and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Strong people and organisational skills
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Prior experience in Forensic preferred, but not essential
  • The ability to work autonomously, be thorough, methodical and with attention to detail
  • 4-5 years Structural engineering design and site experience preferred

RESIDENTIAL MANAGER (VIC)

We require an experienced team manager to join our business in our Melbourne office to assist with managing our Structural Housing team.

Suitable candidates would include experienced people managers who are from a technical, engineering or construction background. Degree qualified structural, civil or geotechnical candidates will be highly regarded.

Working closely with the technical manager, you will manage a team of approximately 10 professional and experienced engineers to meet the business requirements for cost, quality, service and people objectives. Although the work is diverse, our main service is the timely delivery of engineering reports. Our clients include residential builders, developers, architects and councils.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/Structural/Geotechnical - preferred but not essential)
  • Formal qualifications or training in management
  • Previous experience managing a team of professionals to achieve business outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience with business development and client liaison
  • Well-developed people and organisational skills

TECHNICAL OPERATOR / SOIL TECHNICIAN / FIELD SOIL TECHNICIAN (SA)

Due to continued growth, FMG's Research House (our NATA accredited soil, concrete and materials testing laboratory) is seeking candidates to fill a number of positions within our laboratory testing team as Technical Operator, Soil Technician and Field Soil Technician.

The roles available vary from entry level to experienced soil technicians. While experience is not essential, a strong work ethic, willingness to listen and learn, along with the ability to follow procedures methodically and take direction from senior staff are essential to this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake routine laboratory testing of soil, concrete and aggregates in accordance with AS1289, AS1012 and AS1141
  • Carry out designated tests strictly in accordance with laboratory procedures
  • Ensure testing outputs are met and exceeded
  • Maintain and set up equipment for use in testing
  • Operate and calibrate instruments
  • Classify and log samples to AS1726
Skills and Experience
Applicants possessing any of the following will be highly regarded:
  • TAFE or similar course in laboratory testing or related discipline
  • Year 12 SACE Certificate
  • Strong employment record
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures methodically and take direction
  • Experience in soils, concrete and aggregate testing in accordance with AS1289, AS1012 and AS1141
  • Deemed to be proficient to carry out soil, concrete and aggregate testing

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER / SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (SA)

Due to an increase in workload we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the role of Structural Engineer/Senior Structural Engineer. Your role will be to provide structural engineering design solutions for residential and commercial structures, ensure quality assurance across engineering reports completed by others, lead and mentor other structural engineers.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in structural engineering and design
  • Minimum 5 years of structural design experience is essential for this role
  • Demonstrated experience (within Australia) in residential and/or commercial structural engineering
  • Experience and knowledge of residential civil and footing designs preferred
  • Competent CAD drafting skills preferred, but not necessary
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams or have leadership aspirations
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with a variety of people including builders, architects and trades people
