TECHNICAL OPERATOR / SOIL TECHNICIAN / FIELD SOIL TECHNICIAN (SA)   - APPLICATIONS OPEN

Due to continued growth, FMG Research (our NATA accredited soil, concrete and materials testing laboratory) is seeking candidates to fill a number of positions within our laboratory testing team as Technical Operator, Soil Technician and Field Soil Technician.

The roles available vary from entry level to experienced soil technicians. While experience is not essential, a strong work ethic, willingness to listen and learn, along with the ability to follow procedures methodically and take direction from senior staff are essential to this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake routine laboratory testing of soil, concrete and aggregates in accordance with AS1289, AS1012 and AS1141
  • Carry out designated tests strictly in accordance with laboratory procedures
  • Ensure testing outputs are met and exceeded
  • Maintain and set up equipment for use in testing
  • Operate and calibrate instruments
  • Classify and log samples to AS1726

Skills and Experience

Applicants possessing any of the following will be highly regarded:

  • TAFE or similar course in laboratory testing or related discipline
  • Year 12 SACE Certificate
  • Strong employment record
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to follow procedures methodically and take direction
  • Experience in soils, concrete and aggregate testing in accordance with AS1289, AS1012 and AS1141
  • Deemed to be proficient to carry out soil, concrete and aggregate testing

 ADMINSTRATOR

Our Melbourne office, located in Hawthorn, is looking for 2 full time administrators with suitable skills and/or experience to provide administrative support to our multi-disciplinary business.

This role is a varied one, providing support across the business in multiple departments. The successful candidate will work efficiently to provide prompt service, in an environment where timeframes are key to our client’s satisfaction. The raising of quotes, sales and purchase orders, invoices and document maintenance will require a high level of initiative and attention to detail. Liaising with stakeholders and fielding customer enquiries will require exceptional customer service as the role will often be the first point of contact within the business. The diversity of the role calls for someone who can prioritise, multitask, be flexible and work well within a team environment, as well as autonomously.

As the ideal candidate you will have: 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Exceptional phone skills and customer service
  • Solid typing and data entry skills
  • Strong computing skills with experience in Microsoft office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word etc.)
  • Highly organised and able to manage several priorities
  • Enjoy working in a busy and fast paced environment
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required
  • Experience within the building/construction industry preferred, but not necessary
  • Australian citizenship essential

RESIDENTIAL ENGINEER - ADELAIDE

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the role of Residential Engineer. Your role will be to provide civil engineering design solutions for residential projects, ensure quality outcomes for our clients, contribute to the success of our business. 

As the ideal candidate you will have: 

  • Degree qualifications in civil engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience 
  • Demonstrated experience (within Australia) in residential engineering

Ideally your experience would include a combination of the following:

  • Residential footing design
  • Residential civil design
  • Residential structural design
  • CAD drafting
  • Knowledge and interpretation of soil data

Your personal attributes should also include:

  • A passion for civil design and engineering
  • A desire to grow and develop your career
  • Good communication skills; written and verbal
