SITE | Roy Marten Dog Park, Taperoo
CLIENT | Port Adelaide Enfield Council
CONSTRUCTION VALUE | $6 million
PROJECT PERIOD | 2019
Roy Marten Reserve is a redeveloped park featuring dog friendly areas and a playground at Adelaide’s North Western suburb of Taperoo.
FMG Engineering was the civil consultant for this project with Outerspace as the lead consultant.
The $6 millon upgrade to the existing site features 2 separate dog areas (large and small breed), a multi-use court, two play spaces for different age groups and a running track around the perimeter which augments the "Snake Pit" at Fort Largs to the west of the park. Several play areas have been incorporated into the landscape design which includes play equipment for kids of all ages.
Due to limitations in the existing stormwater infrastructure our designers developed an elegant solution, directing the site's stormwater to two soakage basins at the east end of the park. This approach mimimised interruptions to the adjacent streets and reduced the amount of physical infrastructure required.
The surrounding community has greatly benefitted from the reconstruction of Roy Marten Park, with high public attendance most days of the week.
